Basic First Aid
Unintentional injury is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States. There are 24.5 million emergency room visits per year for unintentional injuries. This number is absolutely staggering, and it means that 1 out of 7 people will sustain injury requiring medical intervention. The need for people with first aid skills is absolutely critical in decreasing a permanent damage or death to the victims.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand the components of First Aid Kit
- Assess and provide first aid care to victims with bleeding and wounds
- Assess and provide first aid care to victims with shock and burns
- Assess and provide first aid care to victims with poisoning or allergic reactions
- Assess and provide first aid care to chocking victims
- Assess and provide first aid care to victims with exposure to extreme temperatures (heat and cold)
- Assess and provide first aid care to victims with musculoskeletal as well as eye injuries
- Assess and provide first aid care to victims with head and spine injuries
